After trading up from the 50th pick to the 45th the Chicago Bears selected wide receiver Alshon Jeffery from South Carolina. They traded the 50th pick and their 5th rounder to St. Louis for the pick.
It may have been a reaction to the Jets trading up to select Stephen Hill 43rd overall.
Jeffery is provide another big target for Jay Cutler to pair with Brandon Marshall. He is 6’3″ and 216 lbs, which is down from his playing weight last season when many said he looked out of shape. He should slide right into the No. 2 receiver role, allowing Earl Bennett to stay in the slot and work the middle of the field.
In three season for the Gamecocks he caught 183 passes for over 3, 000 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Isn’t it nice to see the Bears trading up and getting the guy they want, rather than sitting back and seeing who falls to them?
